Our Schools & Faculty

Preschool Program

Our new preschool building was designed specifically for the needs of preschool-aged children. The rooms are large and filled with natural light. A beautiful outdoor play area and a large gymnasium provide a developmentally appropriate space for children to play and develop large motor skills. A dedicated science room as well as a space for literacy development are exciting places that inspire curiosity and a love of learning.

Our program provides children with a warm, loving, and nurturing environment where they are valued and celebrated as individuals. Children are exposed to a variety of experiences that are critical for brain development as they also learn to be confident and curious learners. The school day is balanced, allowing time for academic studies, large motor development, socialization, and play. Our teachers provide individualized learning opportunities for each of their students, always challenging them to extend their thinking while providing the loving support a child needs to feel in order to do so.

Each child’s day is filled with rich and exciting opportunities to develop and grow at their own pace. A portion of each day is set aside for math and language development. During this time, children explore activities that are individualized for their level of development. Teachers are keenly attune to each child’s needs and interests and are able to gently guide students to activities that will encourage learning and inspire their curiosity. Students also explore social studies through theme-based units, a science curriculum taught by a science specialist and learn literacy skills with a specialist in reading and language development. Additionally, students explore inquiry-based science topics in their classrooms.

In addition, our curriculum also emphasizes music, art, and foreign language. These areas are considered key components of our overall curriculum because of the profound effect they have on a child’s development. We know that early experiences in these areas not only have a psychological impact on development, they also have a physical impact on the neural pathways that allow a child to understand and process information effectively and to manage emotions in productive ways.

MUSIC

Our music curriculum, taught by a professional music instructor, is structured to provide diverse and enjoyable musical experiences for children. Our goal is to instill a natural understanding and appreciation for music that will continue throughout their lives.

SPANISH

Through an approach that incorporates vocabulary development through songs, stories, and word play, our Spanish teacher gives our children an amazing opportunity to lay a foundation for second language acquisition.

ART

Our art curriculum emphasizes the enjoyment and exploration involved in the process of creating art. Art projects, designed by our art specialist, are developmentally appropriate, involve both gross- and fine-motor skills and provide children with an opportunity to experiment with different materials. Children are also introduced to specific artists and periods in art history.

Transitional Kindergarten

The transitional Kindergarten program at Next Generation School is designed specifically for students with late fall and early winter birthdays. It is a blend of preschool and Kindergarten that is perfectly matched to meet the social, emotional and academic needs of children in this age group. Each child’s day is filled with rich and exciting opportunities to develop and grow. A portion of each day is set aside for math and language instruction. During this time, children explore activities that are designed to foster development and encourage academic growth. Students also explore social studies through theme-based units, a science curriculum taught by a science specialist and learn literacy skills with a reading and language specialist.
